Creative Non-Fiction with Amy Key and Jenn Ashworth

Duration: 4 weeks
Tutors: Jenn Ashworth, Amy Key
Dates: Mon 3 – Fri 28 March 2025

The Out-Spoken Academy Creative Non-Fiction course offers the opportunity to learn from tutors who are both critically acclaimed writers and highly skilled educators. The course offers you the time and structure to focus on your non-fiction writing in a supportive, safe and generative environment.
Course outline:

  • A two-hour tutor-led class each week from 7–9pm UK on both Mondays and Fridays.

  • A scheduled half hour individual tutorial with each tutor, where feedback will be provided on a sample of your writing.

The programme is uniquely designed around a weekly tutor rotation. You will receive two weeks of teaching along with individual tutorial sessions from each of our two tutors.
Workshops and tutorials will be delivered via Zoom. You will have access to a dedicated classroom space on Padlet, where you will be able to access course materials and ask any questions, as well as a Padlet board where you can share poems, feedback and discussion with the other members of your cohort.

Workshops are recorded and the recordings will be made available to you, password-protected on our Vimeo, the day after each session. At the end of the course, you will receive a handout collating the course materials, as well as links to the session recordings, should you need to revisit certain aspects of the course.

Course delivery is wholly online. We welcome participants from anywhere in the world, but each should note that taught workshops are provided in evenings UK time.

For access purposes and to enable effective communication please note that, while you are not required to have your camera on at all times, we do request that your camera is on when you speak with tutors.
